Infertility Information 101
Having a child of your own is one of the most priceless gifts of life. It is a different kind of fulfillment and accomplishment in which a couples love for each other is strengthened. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with the gift of childbearing. There are instances when a couple experiences problems in conceiving even after a year of regular intercourse or when a woman is unable to complete the full term (or at least 7-9 months) of pregnancy. This is defined as Infertility.
Studies have been done to provide information regarding the reasons on why infertility exists between couples. Although it is rampant that most of the reasons are due to complications on the females part. Such as a woman experiencing problems in her ovulation or when she is not ovulating at all. It is important for a woman to menstruate properly and regularly for this will affect her fertility in the long run. Other conditions which also bring infertility are tubal ligations, tubal blockage, complications in the uterus, etc.
Of course the infamous reason for the infertility of couples today can be blamed on the increasingly large amount of people carrying sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). STDs are not only lethal through time but they also play a big role in problems encountered in conceiving between couples.
Infertility can also be blamed on a womans age. Every month, a woman loses ten thousand eggs. So there really is a certain period in time for a woman wherein she is naturally not able to conceive because of the lack of egg cells. Women in their late 20s and early 30s are the perfect years for child conceiving and child birth. While on the other hand, infertility in men is sperm-based. Usually complications or sperm disorders make a guy infertile. This is why monitoring sperm counts are very important.
Diseases such as Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, Pelcic Inflammatory Disease (PID), and Gonorrhoea also leads to infertility among couples. These are extreme medical conditions which require intensive health care. Although some of these diseases are curable just like PID which is a form of inflammation of the pelvis. Pregnancy can be achieved if a couple is willing to undergo a process called In vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is a very popular method of fertilization wherein the egg cell is fertilized by a sperm outside the womans womb. This method has been proven effective yet expensive.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is another condition which causes infertility but is very curable. PCOS is a hormonal disorder wherein there is a disruption in the normal ovulation cycle of a woman which results in infertility. Metformin is then used in helping the body and its required insulin intake. The hormone levels are then corrected and thus creating fertility for the woman. Hormones are very important to a persons fertility because hormones can determine complications for the different parts of the body sensitive to child conceiving. Our hormones are produced by the hypothalamus, pancreas, ovaries, testes and the pituitary, adrenal and thyroid glands. Thus, if one of these hormone-producing parts is to experience complication, then it means that there is a high chance of infertility between the couple.
Most of the time, infertility can be blamed solely on a persons lifestyle. We always take for granted our vices like smoking, drinking, use of illegal substance and weigh-related disorders. What we dont know is that these bad habits have a big effect on a persons fertility. Unhealthy lifestyles mean a lesser chance at having a healthy pregnancy or maybe not even get to conceive at all. When the reason for the infertility is unknown or cannot be determined as soon as possible, this is labeled as unexplained infertility, although, these cases happen due to stress and not because of medical-related complications.
